Like almost everyone who is anyone getting into Internet Marketing we had done it all – searching Google for instruction, buying DVD courses, going to seminars, you name it, we'd done it – looking for the "insider secrets" that would make our Internet business fly.

We got some good stuff, too. Particularly some of the DVD's recorded at Internet seminars, like the Entrepreneur's Bootcamp, the 2006 World Internet Summit or the Internet Superconference. Lots and lots of good ideas from lots and lots of "serious" Internet gurus, ranging from Ed Dale's Underachiever system through Armand Morin's systems for trading property on Ebay, and all of them looked good ways to make money. However, all of them had a flaw: in every case we looked at, there was detailed explanations of the system right up to the point where you had the system set up and in place, you had the website up and ready and the key was all set to be turned, and the next instruction was "…and then you drive the traffic and watch it happen!"

But here's the snag – no-one ever said how you drive the traffic. Sure, we all know there are ways to get instant traffic, like pay-per-click, and we all know that search engine optimisation is either a black art or a breeze, depending on who you listen to or who you believe. We all know as well that there are any number of websites and internet publishers/marketers out there who will be only too pleased to take your money, and you never really know whether or not the website or the manual or whatever you have paid for will do the business for you.

Eventually, however, we found the "nuts and bolts" information we needed to get going - and without it we would still be struggling to understand what to do.

So, having struggled so hard to find the information needed to get going, I decided to create a short ad-hoc series of articles about "Getting Started for Beginners" from a recent beginner. Although I don't claim to be an "expert" (yet!), having just gone through the process of getting started there doesn't seem to be much for the newbie - plenty if you want to refine and hone your skills, but not much for people like us!

So where did we start? The obvious place to generate quick results - Google AdWords. And this in itself became clear that it is anything but simple! I found that I had to study the Google tutorial videos quite carefully to begin understanding the system. This is how I tackled the problem:

I began with a product the I felt was likely to be a good seller, Michael's Traffic Videos, for the simple reason that this was the first product that had given me the basic information I needed to get started. Having gone through the product I felt that this was a worthwhile project that even as an affiliate could earn reasonable money. Why go for an affiliate product to begin with? Simply because when starting up there is a ready-made reservoir of products already created and available at sites like Clickbank that the authors/creators will pay commission on when you make a sale for them. Commission rates vary from 30% up to around 75% of the sale price, and if there is a market for the product this is a good way to get started with no product of your own - exactly like us! However, identifying the market is crucial - if there is no market then the product is unlikely to sell!

So the next step was to research the market, and the easiest way to do this is to research the keywords that relate to the product. There are any number of sites available to do this research, probably the best-known being Overture. This tool allows you to enter a word or phrase and will return the number of searches per month on the Yahoo search engine for that word or phrase, and will show suggestions for related words and phrases, also with the search numbers. From this I identified some possibilities that were refined further using the free trial at Wordtracker, which has the added functionality of showing the competition for each word or phrase you check, and arrived at a list of 20 keyword phrases for my ad. The objective was to find keywords and phrases that looked highly effective, ie had good search numbers and predicted searches and few competitors.

The charging and ranking system within Google AdWords is very complex, and is partially reliant not only on how good and relevant your ad is (what Google refer to as the "Quality Score") but is also related to the Quality Score and highest price ("bid") from other advertisers using similar keywords to your ad. Unfortunatley Google don't tell you what your Quality Score is so it can be difficult to assess why or how your ads are ranked and charged!

Following on from that, the next step was to set up an autoresponder to capture subscriber data to build a mailing list. There are any number of autoresponder sites available that offer more or less sophistication and functionality at a variety of prices, and the cheapest doesn't always mean inferior and expensive doesn't always mean best! I recently changed autoresponders because I found a far better service at a lower cost! The autoresponder will generate an HTML form (sounds scary but isn't) to incorporate in a website or "squeeze page" to enable the prospective subscriber to enter his/her details, typically just a first name and an email address. The good autoresponders will operate a "double opt-in" system where the prospect has to confirm his/her subscription after the initial data submission. This is not only to comply with US and other countries' anti-spam laws but is good practice to make sure that the people on your list really should be there. This "squeeze page" is important as this is how we will build our list, capturing data as people pass through the site.

Having got the HTML code from the autoresponder for the subscription form, the next step was to create a simple website using Dreamweaver and inserting the autoresponder code into the web page form and uploading to the server. I had previously registered a domain name and set up hosting for this particular campaign. The web pages were very simple: one landing page with the signup form and another confirmation page after the prospect has confirmed his/her registration. Simple! The landing page forwards to the affiliate link for my chosen product once the form is completed and submitted. One important point: there is a link on the landing page to allow the prospect to continue to the affiliate page without being forced to sign up. Having noted the URLs of the two pages it was back to the autoresponder to enter the relevant page URLs and then TEST to make sure the whole process works as it should!

OK, checklist time: I now have a product, a market, keywords and phrases, an autoresponder, a domain name, hosing and a website, fully tested and working. The next piece of the puzzle was to create the ad and get it out into the market.

To begin with I created an AdWords Starter Account, which is a simplified system that allows one ad campaign with simplified pricing and setup for the campaign. I needed four things: a headline, body copy (very short on two lines), display URL and a destination URL. These last two confused me to start with - I had always assumed that the web address you see on the Sponsored Links ads was the actual web address you were taken to, but this isn't the case. Google will allow you to have a different destination address (the "real" address) from the address you see, provided they are closely enough related. However, in my case the two were the same - I had enough to worry about without complicating matters even further! Next, copy-and-paste the selected keywords into the ad and then submit the ad to Google for approval. Once approved, continue on to the payment and billing sections and the job was done! So now, I'm monitoring the performance - early days yet.

So that was my introduction to Google AdWords. I hope this article was of interest to beginners in Internet Marketing like ourselves!

Whilst foreign customers will be able to order goods or services through the website, it is almost a certainty that at some point one of these customers will want to talk to a real person, perhaps to obtain further information or advice, or just looking for general support; employing a multilingual speaker or two may not only prove to be a good investment, it could also avoid any potentially embarrassing language-related incidents between clients and the company.

The Future

The advantages of multilingual websites may well become even more evident in future years as more and more countries adopt the Internet as their primary trading tool. Obviously it wouldn't be very practical to have a website that could be viewed in every single language of the world; however, this may be become a standard website feature as the Internet continues to evolve.

In the meantime, for any company who wants or is considering having extra languages on their site, a word with your web designer would be a good idea. Adapting an existing website to accommodate extra languages will obviously involve some costs such as translation fees and your web designer's time, but these would be far outweighed by the extra business a multilingual website could generate from other countries currently out of reach because of language differences.

There are scores of websites out there on the Internet who claim they can get you increased traffic for a certain fee, which is usually quite expensive. But, did you know that you also could easily adopt the same techniques as those traffic "gurus" and get your extra traffic without spending a dime? Firstly, content is king. If you can afford it, then you must sponsor a free e-book or a special course for your visitors and their friends. Firstly, people love freebies, and if what you are offering has some solid informational value, then you will get loads of traffic at a very low cost, much lesser than what you were going to pay the so-called traffic experts.

Lastly, if you are selling a product or if your website generates revenue by giving out information, then you must start an affiliate program. Affiliates take your code and put it up on their website and it is your content that is displayed on their website. You can access your affiliates' visitors by sharing a part of your revenue with them (the affiliates).

Web 2.0 The Art of Long Tail SEO

In the two previous "Long Tail" articles, I wrote about how the principals of Chris Anderson' book "The Long Tail" can be applied to SEO. In this installment I'll go into some the tactics that are actually working today –these are the things I'm using to get free targeted traffic to my sites.

1. All of my sites are now blog based. Blogs are cheap, very simple to deploy and once they're configured with the appropriate plug-ins, very user-friendly to post content to. Blogs are also inherently spider-able, the search engines love to see organized content, and this is very easy to create with a blog.

2. I take full advantage of the Social Bookmarking sites. Sites like Technorati and ice-rocket will pick up "tags" from your pages. These tags will then become links to your site. This helps in getting spiders to your site and to help categorize what your pages are about —plus, many of these sites pass page rank. On the flip site, I use a plugin that gives readers easy access to several of these bookmarking sites —from an end-user point of view, posting any of my articles to some of the most popular bookmarking sites is as simple as clicking an icon below the post.

3. I post frequently. I try to post five or six days per week, often I post several times per day. This "teaches" the search engines that my site has fresh content – engines love fresh content.

4. I post mostly original content. This is the big one. Too many webmasters feel that if they simply buy a product and have tons of content auto-published to their sites, they'll rank high in the engines. A few years ago this worked, but not any longer. The search engines want fresh, original content – those canned content solutions simply recycle old articles that are available elsewhere. The search engines don't want to keep indexing the same content over and over again.

5. I post a variety of content. I don't just post original articles. For example, I post a lot of YouTube videos (videos that I've actually watched). I post these videos along with a brief review, so that you'll have an idea what to expect before you start watching. This allows me to get new content, in less time then it would take to write a full article.

6. I take full advantage of standard blog features like Trackbacks and comments. Yep, so many webmasters either turn these features off or simply don't use them (maybe they don't know how) –but they're a great way to generate traffic to your site. How, well I allow both of these features on all of my Blogs. Find something on my site that interests you or something you disagree with, post a comment and let me know – you'll get a link back to your site! Better yet, post a rebuttal on your own site with a trackback to my post, we'll both benefit with added traffic and the trackbacks will be opening up new paths for the spiders to find us.

7. Find other Blogs within your niche to post comments on and/or create posts about (with trackbacks). The most important thing is make sure your posts are well thought out. In other words, make sure you actually have something to add to the post. A few well written trackbacks can open your site up to a whole new audience.

8. Write (or have written) rich, well rounded content. The days of focusing on a specific keyphrase for an entire webpage are gone (thankfully!). Today, the engines reward content that's not so tightly focused. You don't have to worry about keyword density, just worry that your articles make sense and are compelling to a human readers. Once again, as we saw in the Long Tail, you won't get any "blockbuster keyphrases" this way, what you'll get is the low hanging fruit that you didn't even know existed.

In conclusion, follow this plan in your own niche for several months and you'll start to see high quality traffic. The traffic will be coming not just from the search engines but also from the trackbacks, comments and social bookmarking you've been doing. Remember, what they've been saying for years… Content Is King – well now it's finally true.

The importance of incoming links to your SEO strategy is something to keep in mind when it comes to "The Digg Effect." If you in fact want your website to succeed with the chief search engines, a key component of your SEO strategy must focus on the importance of incoming links. Anyone that has been doing business online for any amount of time, or who has been involved in search engine optimization (or marketing online) in any form knows the importance of good content. You will never get a site ranked without unique, creative, great and amazing keyword dense content - period.

So what do you do when you are into a business that's hard to create good content for? How many different ways can I describe this DVD player? This is the problem that most new to Internet businesses find when it comes to the "setting up of the website" part of their business.

I do have some suggestions that could make ranking on the search engines easier for you based on the content alone on your site:

* Research the Competition (Competition Analysis) I know it sounds elementary, but you want to see what the top players in your field are doing because you are not going to re-invent the wheel. You are not going to copy (thats not what I am saying) but you are going to get good ideas as to what the top players in your area are doing. This could give you some ideas to find topics you normally would not have thought about through information from your supplier.

* Resist the urge to copy and paste the product information from your suppliers site to yours. If you do this, you have done what probably 100 other websites (you are going up against) has done and eventually someone is going to get hit with duplicate content issues when it comes to Google. So rewrite you product descriptions using the keywords you have researched out and try to add a twist and a flavor that makes it yours. We want the search engines to think that it is original so we don't get hit with any kind of penalties.

* Using Article sites to see what people are talking about. There are so many article submission sites out there, just do a Google search for "whatever product + article" and you will see a list of ideas and topics. If I had a site selling Mattresses I can learn (from these article sites) that a lot of people are wondering the proper memory foam mattress care. Then I can create a page talking about that adding great content and value to my site.

* What are bloggers talking about when it comes to your products? You can do a search on places like Google Blog Search or SERPH.com to find the "hot" topics in your field and stay up to date.

* Pay a free lance writer to do it for you! You can find many affordable quality writers on places like elance.com, guru.com or getafreelancer.com. I have had content written for me for as little as five dollars a page. You give them keywords they need to focus on, and they can do the rest!

It really is not that hard to find interesting topics on almost anything if you put a little work into it. It will make all of the difference in the world when it comes to your sites visibility on the search engines and how you do in business long term. I just read a great article this morning talking about the better the content you have the better rankings you get on the search engines - especially Google. Now, content alone will not do it for you, but its a good place to start and one of many of the most important pieces of the Internet marketing puzzle that people miss!

3) Can people easily buy your stuff? Is it easily explained, logical and appears safe to use? Use a good and recognized payment processor and explain all of the payment and deliver processes and what will happen next. People are still confused when buying things so spell it out very clearly.

4) Can people contact you if there are problems? This makes people feel much safer, able to contact you about questions they have and also allows you to sell your product or service directly to them. Nothing like the personal touch to open a wallet!

When I first started out with my internet home business, I spent lots of money on solo ezine ads, ppc ads, and so-called leads. Results were pretty average and not worth the money spent, so I began to look for ways to earn free money online. The idea is to utilize free methods of marketing your web site, such as blogging, article marketing and SEO (or search engine optimization). This means a greater profit yield and often better traffic rates in the long term. So, let's look more closely at SEO.

SEO is simply optimizing your site with the effective placement of relevant keywords and undertaking a linking campaign to increase the number of back-links pointing back to your site. This increases your ranking in the search engines, with the aim being to get on page 1 for your keyword phrase. If you can get on page 1 for your keyword, you will have lots of people clicking on your listing and visiting your site. The first step in your SEO campaign is keyword research. Grab a pen and paper and write down all the keyword phrases you can think of, that visitors might type into a search engine to get information on your niche. Once you have your list, go to your favorite keyword suggestion tool and start entering your phrases into the tool. Each time you enter a phrase, it will give you a heap of other related keyword phrases as possible options.

I always target low-competition phrases that have had about 1000 searches in the past month. I then enter this phrase into the main three search engines, within inverted commas, to see how many other competing sites there are for this term. I try to aim for less than 100,000 results per phrase.

My strategy is to build a web page around each low-competition keyword phrase (and have lots of phrases). To me, this is more achievable than targeting a highly-competitive phrase and working my butt off constantly to maintain a high ranking for that phrase. Now, let's look at on-page and off-page optimization.

On-page optimization is the work that you do on the actual web page itself. What you need to do is place your keyword phrase in your URL (if possible), in the title tag of the page, in the description tag and in the keywords tag, Then, sprinkle your keywords in the body of the text, in the first and last paragraphs, and make sure that you bold, underline or italicize the keyword phrase to give it more emphasis in the search engines. Don't over-do it though. I aim for about 1 to 2% keyword density on my pages.

Off-page optimization is basically your linking strategy. The more back links you have pointing to your site, generally the higher your ranking with the search engines. Two great ways to increase your links are by submitting your URL to the link directories (preferably with a high PR), and to write and submit articles (with a link pointing back to your site) to quality article directories.

Once you have implemented all the steps of your SEO campaign, you need to keep the momentum going. Keep adding more and more pages to your web site, targeting good keyword phrases, and continue getting more links pointing back to your site. The results and the pay-off are definitely worth it. There's nothing better than getting highly-targeted, free traffic from the search engines and earning free money online.

Inbound Links and Search Engine Marketing

The World Wide Web has much to offer your business and its website. This article is about using outside sources to better optimize your search engine popularity. It begins with inbound links.

Why You Need Inbound Links

Inbound links are links that bring the viewer to another page. This can be a link from an external site or a link from the same site. Inbound links optimize search engine marketing due to the high traffic linked to the site. The more inbound links the greater "PageRank" it receives.

Google, the world's number one search engine, originated the PageRank idea. Google logarithms calculate the number of votes cast for a page. The more votes casts, or links used to a page, the more votes it receives. Thus increasing its importance on the PageRank scale. If you are not using Google as your main search engine it's recommended that you optimize your page first by listing your site on Googles' engine.

How To Get Inbound Links

There are a number of ways you can get inbound links. Some of them are through directories, forums, and email requests.

I had been bemoaning the fact that many search engines seem to rank pages with little content, many ads, lots of paid links, and some obvious to readers, but not to bots, paid ads cleverly disguised as information links were getting great "page rank" while many deserving sites, full of good info, but not as seo savy, went virtually unnoticed, and then, a bit of information popped up in an seo newsletter that cheered me up a little. They are taking notice! There is some sanity in the search engine world after all!

This should really come as no surprise, since most of us think very similarly, either as a result of our Aristotelian thought training, or just a general sense of fair play, which seems to pervade much human thought in an open society. In other words, if I am thinking about it, there must be others doing the same.

Comments made to Rand Fishkin, by Vanesa Fox of Google, seem to indicate that Google is trying to pay more attention to at least one, and it looks like more, of the concerns many of us share. In particular, the issue of paid links. Paid links, seem to be a part of what looks a lot like "paid page rank", and this is not always a cash exchange, it may come in the form of mutual back scratching, or what used to be called the "Old Boy" or "Good Old Boy" network or system.

If someone writes a useful article on a given subject, which is then picked up by other publishers, or is quoted from extensively, in very short order, it may propagate itself throughout the Internet, and become a liability to publishers, and the original writer, because of "duplicate content", and could eventually become a problem, for writers, ezines, and news aggregators as well. This may encourage new content, or newly redesigned content, but not necessarily relevant or important content.

The duplicate content issue needs to be revisited, and revised. It can be skirted by the linguistically clever. Content can be manipulated by being professorial on one hand and doing the old "fatback and grits" routine on the other. True, it may appeal to different audiences, and therefore may be valid in some respects, which only serves to strengthen the above stated opinions. If it is relevant, it is relevant, and it may be relevant to different people, in different ways, so why punish it's author, and publishers for disseminating it widely in it's original form?

If an article on irrigation is relevant to the contractor who does installations, it may also be relevant to the home owner having the system installed, who will look for the information in a different place. Why is it bad for this information to be both in the "Irrigation Contractors Weekly" and in the "Wary Home Owners Corner"? It may be relevant to both, but they will search for it in different ways.

Well, at least, Google seems to be taking some steps to level at least part of the playing field, and the system is always in a state of flux, so there is always hope that the changes will be good ones.

Whats Important for Search Engines?

I recently had a question from someone who was looking for some possible SEO consulting with me. He was in the process of a redesign and wanted to be sure not to make any mistakes along the way, which is super-smart! The time to be looking at SEO is definitely in the beginning stage of any design or redesign project.

The interesting part of the email was this person's misconceptions about what he thought were important factors for the search engines. I'd like to share those points with you, with my comments following each one:

* Little or no Flash.

This is a huge misconception to many who are trying to design search-engine-friendly websites. There's nothing inherently wrong with using Flash and no reason to avoid it altogether. What you do need to avoid is an all-Flash site, as well as Flash navigation. But that's it. And even if you have those things, there are workarounds.

* All scripts should be called from external files.

This is a great idea to keep file size down and make it easy to update your pages, but it's got nothing to do with search engines or how your pages are ranked within them. Search engines have long known how to ignore code that is of no use to them. Whether your scripts are right there in the source code of the page or called up externally will have no bearing on your rankings or search engine relevance.

* The site should be designed using CSS as extensively as possible.

Another myth. CSS doesn't have any special properties that search engines like better than tables or any other HTML code. Again, it may make it easier for you to update your pages, or to use your content for other things, but it's not an SEO technique that will increase rankings or relevance.

* The CSS should be called from external files.

Same as calling up scripts in external files — nice to do, but not a search engine issue in the least.

* There should be no comments in the code. It should be added to an FAQ or Doc-type file.

Why not? I'm not sure where this myth came from, but I suppose if you're thinking that file size is going to affect your search engine rankings, you might also believe this one. It may have also come about because some people used to think that adding keyword phrases to comment tags would help search engine rankings, even though it didn't. Comment tags have long been ignored by the engines, and because of this, you can use them as much or as little in your source code as you would like. I always comment out bits of text and code that I no longer wish to use but that I may want to add back in later. It's absolutely, positively not a problem!

* A large percentage of the code on each page needs to change from page to page so that the search engines don't see the pages as duplicate content.

Nope. You certainly do NOT have to change the code in your pages to avoid duplicate-content issues! Website templates have code that is exactly the same from page to page. This is good and normal and certainly fine with the search engines. One would have to think that the search engineers were really dumb if they were going to penalize pages because they used the same design template from page to page! Sure, you don't want the same exact *content* on every page of your site, but even that is not generally a problem if it's a few sentences here and there. (See my recent article at Danny's Search Engine Land site on the Myth of Duplicate Content.)

* All picture links should have text links under the pictures.

No reason for that at all. Image links that make use of the image alt attribute (aka "alt tags") have always been followed easily by the search engines and will always continue to be followed. They're followed even without the alt attribute, but the words you place in there tell the search engines and the site users exactly what they'll be getting when they follow the link. It's essentially the same thing as the anchor text of a text link.

* DO NOT use drop-down or fly-out menus using JavaScript.

This is fairly good advice; however, there are very easy workarounds if you have to use JavaScript menus for some reason. The "noscript" tag is a perfectly legitimate place to recreate your menu for those who (like the search engines) can't do JavaScript. I've been using this technique since 2000 or so when my website was designed with JavaScript menus, and it's definitely not a problem. I just haven't gotten around to redesigning my site with a more crawler-friendly navigation. Certainly these days, a CSS menu would be a better option.

* Must use basic HTML link navigation (textual navigation, no JavaScript mouse-over, and no image map graphical navigation).

Yes and no. JavaScript links are definitely a no-no. But there are plenty of crawler-friendly image maps, and like I mentioned previously, graphical links are A-OK with search engines.

* All pages must be VALIDATED by an HTML validator and all style sheets need to be VALIDATED through a CSS validator.

Why? This has nothing to do with search engines. It's nice to do, though.

* The majority of the site will be static, as static pages are easier for search engines to crawl and rank properly.

Dynamic pages are just as easy to crawl and rank as static pages. Most websites today are dynamic because they're simply easier to maintain. The search engines have figured out how to crawl and rank them just fine for many, many years now. It's true that there are specific things you need to watch out for when creating a dynamic site, but most developers are aware of the worst of the issues. You certainly should consult with an SEO if you're changing content management systems, or if you're having problems getting your dynamic URLs spidered and indexed. But there's no reason to have only static pages on your site because you're worried about the search engines being able to index dynamic pages.

* The site needs to be browser-compatible and screen-resolution-compatible.

This is another thing that's nice to do for your site visitors, but it has no bearing on search engine rankings or relevance.

Phew! I hope this helped clear up a lot of misconceptions that anyone else may have had. Please don't get me wrong — I do agree that most of the things listed here are great design tips that can help you to create an awesome, user-friendly website. I just want to make it very clear that they have nothing to do with SEO, rankings, spidering, indexing, etc.

Choosing a Domain Name for Your Business

So you have decided to start a business online. Your dream is to become a huge success, however, in order to stand out from the crowd you will want to focus on choosing a domain name for your business that is related to what your site is about.

People type in your domain name when they are looking for your website in particular. It will look something like this: www.mywebsite.com. It is your virtual real estate address.

The best thing that you can do for your website in order to get repeat visitors and free word-of-mouth traffic is to give it a memorable domain name. A domain name that people can remember without having to look it up all the time or having to bookmark it and losing it among all the others.

1. Choose a Dot-Com

As a rule, choosing a domain name for your business that ends with a dot-com or .com is the best. Dot-Com is considered the Main St. of the virtual real estate world. When someone types in a domain they automatically use .com regardless of what the actual extension is.

Even though .org and .net were popular for a time and later .biz and .us, people always come back to the .com – and it really never matters just how many country code domains are being used like .cc, .ws, .to, .cn and others.

2. Opt For Something Memorable

If at all possible, you will want your business name to also be your domain name. So if your flower shop is called Sandy's Flower's, you will want to try and get sandysflowers.com if it is available. If it isn't, you could try it with a dash. Sandys-flowers.com or something descriptive such as sandysflowersonline.com or prettysandy'sflowers.com. Be creative and come up with something that is suitable to your business name and memorable to your clients.

If you do choose to use a dash in your domain name, some search engine optimization experts suggest that dashes somehow attract more free traffic to your site, you must remember to say the dashes in any commercials or audio products; so it would be "sandys dash flowers dot com".

Most folks will forget to type in the dashes when typing in your domain name.

3. Get Another Variation

If you can get a good domain name without the dashes, then you should consider getting the same domain name but with the dashes in between the words. You will be able to put them both on your server as mirror sites to get the benefits of search engine optimization and no one else will be able to take that name. If someone types it in with the dashes it will redirect to your site.

You might want to also consider getting an extension such as .org or .net to use as a sister site to your main .com site. Your .com domain name can be used for your main product, your .net for your forum and .org for some of your background business info.

When choosing a domain name for your business and if the one that you really wanted is not available, you can use your creativity along with trying a variety of different combinations. This should enable you to come up with a memorable domain name that will attract clients to your website.

Search Engine optimization is very important if you are looking to expand your internet exposure however, it seems that many people are victim to bad SEO (search Engine Optimization) practices. A) Find out how well-known and experienced an SEO firm is before you talk.

Do they have a considerable number of clients list?
Are they available?

B) Examine their portfolio.

Contact a few of their clients. Were they satisfied with the SEO work that was done?

C) Consider and confirm their methods?

How will they optimize your site in the major search engines to reach your keywords?

You could begin with free listings for the first say, 200 lawyers and then charge an annual fee for each listing thereafter. You make money on the listings and the AdSense advertisements.

8. Use Your Domain Name as a Portal to Other Sites

This is different from the directory sites in that you line up a number of colleagues who sell say, ebooks and place links to them at your portal. Call your portal "Ebooks for All Ages" or something that will interest visitors and work to get it a high listing in the search engines. You can also advertise this type of site. When people come to your portal and click to visit the ebook sites, guess what? They click your affiliate link and you get a commission on anything they buy at the other end.

9. Gathering Email Addresses for a List

So, you are the owner of several Internet sites and you want to capture email addresses to up-sell those who have visited or purchased your site. On your other sites you place a link asking visitors to sign up to your monthly stocks and shares advice newsletter which is free. Rather than having a sign-up box on each of your sites, you direct them to your sign-up page which has details of your newsletter, perhaps a bonus for signing up and the sign up boxes.

You can call this site the name of your newsletter ie, "Stocks-and-shares-newsletter". This enables others who have not necessarily visited your other sites to surf onto your newsletter site and sign up.

10. Your Articles Site

You want people to read your research articles so you set up a site called "Dr Erikson's Propellant Research".
